About Me
About Me
Lou lives in Norfolk, UK with her husband and two sons. She was diagnosed with a rare, genetic, progressive and incurable eye disease in 1994 at the age of 15, and registered as severely sight impaired (blind) the following year.
Despite her disability, and her long-term chronic illness, she doesn’t let life get in the way! Lou has learnt and developed great resilience, quick thinking and problem-solving skills, and doesn’t take life too seriously.
Her many passions include advocating for improved sight loss awareness, challenging perceptions of blindness, and showing that disability is being differently abled, not less. She is passionate about promoting digital accessibility for businesses of all sizes. Technology has come a very long way since her diagnosis days, yet the online world has so many unnecessary barriers in place, preventing equal access for all.
Her trainings are always delivered in a fun, relatable but impactful way, and Lou always ensures that nobody leaves the virtual room without a sound understanding of what they can immediately implement to make their online content more accessible.
Lou is an introvert at heart, preferring a quieter, slower pace of life, but doesn’t hold back when attending music festivals with her family. She can be found in a field, dancing with her long white cane, adorned with glow sticks and living her best life!
Reading has always been a downtime favourite, but physical books are no longer accessible, Lou is an avid Audible listener, particularly thriller, crime and romance, alongside personal development.
When they are not busy renovating their home, you’ll find Lou and her family exploring and camping in their retro VW campervan!
