FAQS
If you have any questions about digital accessibility, or how I can help you and your business, please look through my most frequently asked questions below. If you still have questions or you would like to book one of my services then please get in touch.
What is digital accessibility, and why does it matter?
Digital accessibility ensures that online content, including websites and social media, is usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. Making your content accessible benefits your audience, improves engagement, builds brand reputation and loyalty, and aligns with legal requirements like the Equality Act 2010.
I don’t have any customers with disabilities, so creating accessible content doesn’t really affect me, does it?
Yes it does! Nobody likes being excluded and you already have disabled followers in your audience, they just aren’t customers – yet! There are over 16 million disabled people in the UK, with an estimated spending power of £274 billion annually. Now tell me you don’t need to be accessible and inclusive!
Who do you work with?
I work with small businesses, solopreneurs, charities, and B Corps, as well as larger organisations looking to improve their digital accessibility. Whether you’re new to accessibility or want to refine your existing content, I can help.

I don’t know much about accessibility - will your training be too technical?
Not at all! My training is practical, jargon-free, and tailored to your level of knowledge. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to deepen your understanding, I’ll ensure the content is relevant and easy to implement.
Do you offer in-person training or only online sessions?
Most of my training is delivered online, making it accessible to businesses across the UK. My style is interactive, fun yet professional and includes relatable examples to your business. However, I can offer in-person training and workshops for organisations – please contact me to discuss your specific requirements.
How can I tell if my social media content is accessible?
Many factors affect accessibility, including image descriptions alt text, video descriptions, captions, colour contrast, and clear language. I offer DIY accessibility audits, and if you want to deepen your knowledge, I also offer bespoke training to help you identify and fix any barriers in your content.
Do you have any free resources?
Yes! I have several free downloads available under the ‘resources’ tab, to help make your content more accessible, not only to the visually impaired, but those with other disabilities too.
How can I contact you for more information or to schedule a consultation?
You can contact me via email at hello@impactwithlou.co.uk or use the contact form on the website.
Can I book you for corporate training or speaking engagements?
Absolutely! I provide training and talks on digital accessibility for businesses, communications teams, and event organisers. My sessions are engaging, practical, and tailored to your needs.
Will making my content accessible take a lot of extra time?
Not necessarily! Many accessibility improvements, like adding alt text and captions, take just a few extra minutes and can become second nature with the right guidance.
My business is small - do I really need to worry about accessibility?
Yes! Accessibility is for businesses of all sizes. Making your content inclusive helps you reach more customers, improve engagement, builds brand awareness, and demonstrate your values. It is also a brilliant USP over your competitors.
If I could implement one thing today to make my social media content accessible, what should it be?
Include an image description! You might already be using alt text, but that can only be accessed via a screen reader, meaning you are still excluding people from your content, as not all visually impaired people use one.
